WV 5K Championship Race Committee Announces newest race to their lineup

The WV 5K Championship Race committee announces a new road race in Downtown Huntington, the 3rd Avenue Mile.

This event will be on the Saturday, November 6, 2010, which is the evening before the Marshall Marathon. The race is open to all ages. “We hope to get a lot of people to come out and race as this is something different and we want to make it fun!” said Race Director Pat Riley.

This race will also give the marathoners an opportunity to see some great races before they race the next day. “Our one mile course will very spectator friendly, we do hope that a lot of the marathoners come out to watch these races.” said Race Promoter and Marshall University Cross Country Graduate Assistant Coach Casey Batey.

The race will begin on 3rd Ave in front of Pullman Square and finish underneath of the Cam Henderson Center walkway. Awards will be held at Marshall University.

Race day registration begins at 3:45 PM and the races begin at 5 PM on November 6 at Pullman Square in downtown Huntington.

Advance registration can be completed online at www.TriStateRacer.com/3rdAveMile or by printing out an entry form at the same website, mailing it to 3rd Ave Mile 613 Shaw Street, Barboursville, WV 25504.

Pre-registration before October 28 is $15 and after October 28 the price will be $20. Race day registration will be available for $20 as well.

Registrations must be received by October 28 in order for participants to receive a T-shirt. T-shirts will not be guaranteed for entries received after October 28.
