C. Milton Wright Co-Ed XC Relays by Donnie Mickey This unique relay meet is in its second year, and one of the only meets of its type. The teams are co-ed, and must run in girl-boy order for all six members. Each team in the relay runs a total of 9 miles (1.5 mile for each leg). The meet got underway at 10 am, on a day that was a little warmer than expected. The first race was the A division. The first runners for CMW, Bel Air, and Hereford lead the way and all finished within 3 seconds of each other under 9:10. Tyler Muse of Bel Air put some distance on the 2nd runners from Hereford and CMW. CMW’s and Hereford’s 3rd runners caught Bel Airs, and put distance on her. At the end of 3 legs and halfway thru the race CMW and Hereford had put about 80 meters on Bel Air. Erika Scripa of CMW and Marta Randall of Hereford took off together, and at the mile mark Scripa had put about 10 meters on Randall. Randall closed very quickly, and put 10 meters back on Scripa. Hereford’s final runner ran 7:45 to seal the deal on a Hereford victory. In the B division CMW’s Hannah McKenzie opened a small lead on the field with an opening leg of 9:20. Hereford and Bel Air followed. CMW maintained that lead through the next 4 legs, and on the 5th leg Bel Air and Hereford’s runners made big moves to catch the CMW runner, and put about 100 meters on her by the end of the leg.
