NEW CREEK, W.Va.-Frankfort junior cross country runner Rebekah McBride
felt pain on Thursday after crossing the finish line first at the Class AA/A
Region II championship meet at Keyser High School.
Unfortunately for her, she also felt pain at the starting line. But winning
made it all worthwhile.

The Falcons standout harrier started at the front and never relinquished
the lead in a field of 58 runners, finishing in 20 minutes, 27 seconds and
being the first runner to qualify for the state championship meet on Nov. 1
in Ona, W.Va.Read More

NEW CREEK, W.Va. -- Winning the Class AA/A Region II cross country
championship on Thursday was just a short day's work for Berkeley Springs
senior Lenny Roach.

A training day, that is.

The Indians' No. 1 runner sped to the front of the 59-runner field and had
little reason to look back as won in 17 minutes and 8 seconds. Roach
finished 19 seconds in front of Philip Barbour junior Riley Freeman (17:27),
who edge fellow junior David Rhodes of Tucker County (17:28).

"I hope to win the state (championship)," Roach said after waiting at the
end of the chute to congratulate his teammates.Read More
