GO106 signs on as Mtn Md Marathon supporter

CUMBERLAND – The Mountain Maryland Marathon Club is pleased to announce that GO106 is now a top-level sponsor for the inaugural Mountain Maryland Marathon presented by Life Fitness Management and the 5K for United Way.

GO106 will help promote the first-ever 26.2-mile competitive running event in Allegany County history by leading outreach efforts for the marathon, half marathon, 5K for United Way and Kids Marathon.

“We feel privileged to be involved with this worthwhile cause that will focus attention on healthier lifestyles fo rthe entire community,” said Rich Cornwell, General Manager for GO106. “We look forward to not only this inaugural year but being part of the Mountain Maryland Marathon for many years to come.”

The role of GO106 is to promote health and wellness for potential runners of all ages and abilities and help as many as possible realize a healthier person leads to a better community.

The Cumberland radio station is located in the same building as WTBO on Byrd Avenue near the prominent WTBO sign visible from Interestate 68. The radio station has been a major supporter for community community events for more than 80 years, including the Special Olympics Train Pull and Hooley Plunge, the Toys for Happines and the Autism Speaks Walk at Allegany College of Maryland, among many others.

Mountain Maryland Marathon Club Executive Director Kevin Spradlin said the partnership between the long-established radio station with a reputation for community outreach efforts and his organization is a natural one.

“The situation is ideal,” Spradlin said. “It provides the marathon club an unparalleled outlet by which to reach out to potential participants and, ultimately, increase the charity event’s success by attracting participants from around the region.”

The Mountain Maryland Marathon festival is scheduled for April 19. Visit www.go106.com or www.mountainMDmarathon.org for more information.
